PDF Scanner - Document Scan
Application ID: pdf.scanner.scan.document.ocr
Effective date: July 20, 2026 · Last updated: July 27, 2026

Summary: Your documents and scans are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded to us. We do not run our own servers, we do not require an account, and we do not sell your data. The App does not display advertisements. It does include Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, which collect limited device, usage and crash information as described below.

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application PDF Scanner - Document Scan (the "App") handles your information. By installing and using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

The App does not require an account and does not ask you for personal information. Data falls into two categories:

Firebase never receives your scans, your PDFs, the text recognised in them, or any file names or document titles you enter.

3. Device permissions and how we use them

The App requests the following permissions only to provide its core features:

You can grant or revoke camera and photo permissions at any time in your device Settings. If a permission is denied, the related feature (camera scanning or gallery import) will be unavailable, but the rest of the App continues to work.

4. Analytics and crash reporting (Google Firebase)

The App uses Google Firebase Analytics and Google Firebase Crashlytics, services of Google LLC, to understand how the App is used in aggregate and to diagnose crashes so we can fix them. Data is processed by Google as our service provider and is governed by Google's own policies:

Your choices: you can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, in your device Settings under "Google" → "Ads." Resetting the Advertising ID breaks the link between previously collected analytics data and your device.

We do not sell this data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not combine it with any other source to identify you personally.

5. On-device processing of your documents

All image enhancement and document intelligence happens locally on your device, with no network connection for these features:

Your scanned documents and their contents are never transmitted off your device by the App.

6. Data storage, backup and retention

Your scans, PDFs, annotations and app preferences are stored only in the App's private storage on your device. This data is under your control: you can delete individual documents or clear everything from within the App, or by uninstalling the App. Uninstalling removes all documents and settings stored by the App.

Android Auto Backup: the App deliberately excludes your documents, annotations and document database from Google cloud backup, so your scans are not copied to your Google Drive. Only lightweight app settings are eligible for cloud backup. When you move to a new phone using Android's direct device-to-device transfer, your documents are carried across locally.

Diagnostic data collected by Firebase is retained according to Google's own retention policies.

7. Sharing your documents

The App lets you export or share PDFs, images and extracted text through your device's standard share sheet (for example to email, cloud storage, messaging, or printing apps). When you choose to share a file, it is handled by the app or service you select, and that service's own privacy policy then applies. This sharing is always initiated by you.

8. Children's privacy

The App is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Data security

Your documents stay on your device and are protected by your device's own security (screen lock, encryption, and OS protections). We recommend keeping your device secured and up to date. Diagnostic data transmitted to Firebase is sent over encrypted connections and protected in accordance with Google's security practices.

10. Third-party services and libraries

The App uses open-source and Google libraries. The following process data on-device only and do not transmit your documents off the device: AndroidX, OpenCV, ONNX Runtime, and Google ML Kit Text Recognition. The App also uses Google Firebase Analytics and Google Firebase Crashlytics, which transmit the diagnostic data described in Section 4. The App does not include any advertising SDK.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
